Natalya Bailey the Founder & CEO of Accion Systems joins us to talk about their very small yet incredibly powerful take on Ion thrusters. As these get closer to their theoretical maximum thrust, just a couple of the tiny units could perform all of the ISS station keeping needs! Or even send humans to Mars!

Does a cis-lunar Gateway actually help or hurt going to the Moon and Mars? Think of all of the money that would be spent building and supporting the Gateway and then think about how that money could have been used otherwise such as funding the development of a Xeus-style lunar lander. Analogy: Does a relay race require a middleman that handles batons (i.e. payloads) between the runners?

I think it depends on what you want to do. If it is just a race to get there and once you win you’re done, then it hurts you. If you’re trying to go to colonize then a cis-lunar gateway can help in the long run maintain regular runs between Earth and Mars.

It hurts flags and footprints. It helps colonization.
